New Power LED Shield V2 Configurations
You can now easily order ANY combination of driver modules on your Power LED Shield V2 with the new options configurator on the product page. Check it out! The prices haven’t changed from the original driver capacities. But if you mix and match capacities, the price is updated accordingly for the most flexible purchasing options possible.
Display Issues on the Site
I’m still figuring out how to make everything look consistent across the main site and the store front software. Please bear with me as I stumble through this annoying step in getting the site together. I’m not a web site designer – I’m an IT guy. (My server is in tip-top shape, by the way!) Where I work, we have awesome designers and site developers and all that. But Chester’s Garage isn’t exactly a Fortune 1000 company yet, so the budget is a little steep for me. ;)
Upcoming Products
Modalog 4 Control Shield
A versatile board that converts the PWM outputs of the Arduino in a couple different ways across 4 channels. You can step up the PWM signal to a higher voltage and/or convert the PWM to a true analog output. It’s all jumper-selectable and adjustable for each channel individually. This board is for interfacing with other control systems that need a variable signal other than the basic 5V PWM.
Chronature +2 Shield
A Real-time clock, temperature sensors and 2 channels of true analog output for directly driving fans and other loads. Use this shield with any number of Power LED Shields for a complete, fully schedulable, thermally managed, LED-based lighting system, or whatever you can think of.
A Little About Us
Introduction
Chester’s Garage opened in March of 2010 as a means to sell our first “Shield“, designed by Mark Chester for the Arduino platform. It started with a bicycle generator and headlight project that brought to light the fact that high power LEDs are awesome and very useful, but can be difficult to work with for novice electronics folks.
I was introduced to Arduino shortly after starting the headlight project and immediately started thinking of projects that could be created with the Arduino platform. Arduino was an excellent solution for controlling the output and temperature of the headlight LEDs. But the challenges that followed got me thinking about the target user base of the Arduino platform and how I might be able to make using power LEDs easier for them. And so the Power LED Shield was born.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
When you receive your order from Chester’s Garage, you may notice the packaging seems a little tattered, as if it has been used before. Well it has. But it was still useful, so rather than throw it away or recycle it, it was reused to ship your order. I’ve made a conscious decision to reuse as much packaging as possible because I am very serious about the concept of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. Any packaging I get from my vendors (or anywhere else) that is suitable will be used for shipping orders. You may receive a box with old labels, zip-lock bags that are wrinkled or bubble wrap with a few popped bubbles, and that’s OK because it all still functions as intended and there’s no reason not to use it again.
